Solid fuel flues systems come in a variety of different materials , different thicknesses and lengths for different type of solid fuel appliances , all flue systems need to conform to NF DTU 24.1 (French Building Regs)
All flues for best performance should be insulated, a insulated flue stops condensation and creates a quicker draw from the stove heating the stove more quickly and releasing the dangerous fumes faster, condensation is acidic and will corrode your stove decreasing its lifetime. The heat that you see on your stove data plate is the heat that the stove generates not the flue. The down side to a insulated flue is the cost it adds extra to the installation but increases your stoves performance. Its up to you to decide which you prefer.
All flues have clearances and dimensions that must be adhered to:
Closed door appliance must have a minimum of 150mm flue (unless stated different by the manufacturer)
Open door appliance or appliance that can be open door and closed must have a minimum flue size of 180mm (unless stated different by the manufacturer)
Recommended effective flue height of 4.5 meters
All have different clearances away from windows, walls, doors etc all depending on whether your house is isolated, terrace etc.
Double Paroi isole ( Twin wall insulated flue):
Twin wall flue systems are a stainless steel flue that has a tube on the outside a insulated inner wall and another stainless steel internal wall. These flue systems produce less heat loss on the outside creating less condensation on the inside protecting your stove and also creating a better pull, Double Paroi isole also have less of a clearance to non combustible and combustible materials making the job sometimes a lot easier.
Fuel type: Bois buches
Tubage Flexible (Twin wall flexible flue)
Tubage Flexible comes in two grades of stainless steel 316 or 904 with the latter being a better quality and usually comes with a 25 year warranty as opposed to the 10 year warranty of the 316. Tubage Flexible is used for when you have a chimney that is not good condition, insurance companies insists on it or or your chimney is not creating enough pull, Around 15-20 pascals is usually good enough for a solid fuel appliance (this
